This has to be seen in real life to get how impressive it is - the pictures do not do it justice.I wasn't sure if it would be safe to use metal utensils on the surface so I wrote the seller and they replied that it is safe to use metal utensils and that they won't damage the nonstick quality. I don't believe them though, I'm worried there might be a language barrier and that they have it backwards. Honestly, it's from years of issues from anything Teflon - I am trained that any metal is bad and to not even look at Teflon while touching it. And to be careful even then. That said, I do think they might be right. It's just so fantastic looking that I don't want to take a chance on ruining it. And it's not like I don't have plenty of non-metal utensils. I just won't be cutting a steak open in the pan like I would a cast iron.(Note to seller: if you read this and it really is safe to, say, cut open a steak in the pan with a sharp knife, or chop veggies into small pieces with a big cleaver, please add that info to the listing for everyone else?)The honeycomb inlay design does have a texture on the bottom and I was worried that it would cause things to stick, but it hasn't yet and I've definitely burnt some things that I thought would stick. It's a bit of a mystery how it can be not smooth and yet still nonstick.The design definitely distributes the heat to the outside and center. You can tell when there is anything with grease that the entire surface is very similarly heated. Where the flames are is hotter, but I don't have another pan that distributes the heat so well, it's a great design.The metal handle means it can go into the oven for baking (hello Steak). I found myself wanting a matching lid, but I have a 10 inch one that fits perfectly already so that's space saved in my cabinet.I hadn't really thought about it until now, but other than the cast iron pans that I have (that have their own issues) this is the best pan I have now. Maybe the best anyway, I can't really compare to cast iron. It's like some Hattori Hanzo creation, for those of you that get that reference.I don't say this very often, but: Highly Recommended!
