Updated Review: Years later.I still have the pot and use the pot. Turns out it is worth it. I’m still not sure about the lead and leeching. I oiled buy it again, but no need, I still have it and it looks and works great.MY ORIGINAL REVIEW:The USA is allowing bad cooking materials to be sold. China is notorious for lead laden products. You guys have never answered the lead content questions nor the cadmium leeching questions. The cookware is heavier than expected and fragile. I want to send the the 3 that I bought back, but I am still testing them out. As of now I am not impressed and the price point is a joke. Keep looking for something better. I bet the price would be better as well.I already own several well known, European “high end” Dutch ovens. So when I purchased this pot at a fraction of. the cost I reasonably assumed the quality of the construction or appearance would be inferior to those I own. However, that is not at all the case. In fact, I cant find any difference in the quality of construction, the enamel coating, the exterior color or tight seal between the much more expensive European products and this US made (?) product. In fact, this pot is so attractive, I keep it out on stove instead of in the cabinets below with the rest of my cookware.Great size, for average family. It holds 3 lamb shanks with some wiggle room for braising. 4 was too crowded.Color is a deep red, and a real looker when not in use!Sorry Mom yours will come used for Christmas. Quality control and all.Excellent Dutch oven. Retains heat extremely well. Heavy duty cast iron. Every bit as thick as some more expensive pieces I have, and performs just as well. Great price for a Great product.Landhaus is an old reputable brand. There are some cheaper, larger enamel coated cast iron cookwear but they lack the hardened coating and beautiful paint job this has. Also you get a silver and gold handle to use. The pot is very heavy and its hard to visually judge 4.7 quarts so the pan was smaller than expected. But it feels and looks high quality. The only downside was the insane packaging. Its like 3 boxes, foam slats, buble wrap and carboard pieces. Ive never seen this much packaging for something and Ive ordered fragile glasses before.Very pretty and have used it twice already. It is much lighter than my last enameled cookware. Love the finish & the interchangeable handle.Love the oval - can sear longer cuts of meat.I bought this to mostly bake oval loafs of bread and it's perfect for that purpose. It withstands high heat and creates the steam inside that I need. Fantastic craftsmanship and materials. Very high quality product.
