Our previous convection toaster oven served us well over the years with 4 teenage boys and frozen pizzas. It finally gave out and they no longer made it anymore. Settled on this one for looks, price, convection, etc. After having used it for several weeks, I think I can give a fair review. I like it, it gets good and hot. For S&G, I timed how long it took to get to 350 degrees, exactly 4 mins. I mention this because I got very used to setting the timer to the shortest recommended time and put the food in as it was heating up. I guess this one takes a little longer to warm up because I noticed I didn't need the full amount of set time to cook. So now I still set it to the lowest time, I just start preheating first, before setting up whatever I was going to put in. Convection fan only works on the Bake mode. Just hit Bake, Convection fan, set the temp, then the timer and hit start. It's not an air fryer, But it bakes, re heats dinners and gives it a nice little browning if you like that.Biggest con is the door. You have to hold it all the way down, nothing stops it from hitting the counter hard if you let it go. The lettering is hard to see and read, especially at my age. Now, I've just got used to where my favorite buttons are.Toasting: I don't toast regular bread in it, but I've done some bagels and home baked bread that can be too thick for a toaster. I've noticed that it is uneven. Seems like the rear/upper is the hottest and browns quicker. Lastly, it has a little rounded, recessed area in the back and it seems like it could hold up to a 12" pizza. I put in a 11" plate and there was still a little gap to the door. It fits a 9x13 casserole dish WITHOUT handles. So, in all, it works well for us as empty nesters. Big enough to heat up food, bake some potatoes without having to use the big oven. Oh, and the rack can be moved into 4 different levels, two slots that it can slide into and you can put it upside down.I have happily purchased three of these before. The Black + Deckers are dependable, and this one doesn't use a lot of electricity. It leaves me plenty of room on my counter for food preparation. I have baked chicken, cupcakes, cookies, pizza, and roasted vegetables. It has a low-sound timer bell, a fan, and an adjustable toast and bagel temp. It is quiet, even with the fan on. The bottom tray pulls out for easy cleaning, as well as the rack and roastng tray. Doesn't heat up a mid-sized kitchen, but the outside does get very hot at 380-450 degrees, to say the least. Some of a few Cons. I think it heats up fairly quickly, but the coils are not protected, so oil gets baked on and can cause some major smoke, the reason for my getting rid of the other one. So keep your greasy items covered with aluminum foil. It is hard to read the Led Temperature Panel in the evenings, or a dark lit kitchen. I have to use my flashlight. No backlight on it like it says, just a blue light above it that which is of no help. It also has a hot spot in the back, so turning your food is necessary. So, in retrospect, I enjoy the baking, after some minor adjusting. Great for small items. It's a tough little machine, giving me three to four years if not for the oil on the burners. I have baked cornish hens, but not a whole roaster. Probably could be done as there is room for a small one. I would buy this again, and recommend this as a second oven.My family, both my household and my folks, are true toaster oven people and as such have gone through a lot of models. This is hands down the best one out there. In fact, this is the second time getting this one as I had a huge power surge and it blew out the top heating elements which is no fault of the toaster but had to get another one ASAP as I can't live without it.Big enough to fit my cast iron pans, quarter sheet trays, pizza stone, 6-muffin tin, standard bread loaf pan. The convection fan is so nice and was the OG "air fryer". If you're looking for a toaster oven, take it from me, THIS is the one you want! This is a nice toaster oven. I really only use it to reheat pizza or make toast, so I haven't used all of it's features. The only thing I would change would be to backlight the buttons. The oven is on my counter under cabinets and the buttons are hard to read unless light is shining right on them.My old toaster oven (different brand) bit the dust. This one fits the bill. I like the larger size as I use as primary oven instead of heating up house in summer with gas oven. The door spring is not "stiff" and as others have mentioned you have to be mindful when opening as door will just fall down. Does get hot, but every one that I have owned did too.My other oven used to brown things on top, so I had to cover to keep that from happening. With this oven, it bakes without scorching. Baked potatoes are perfect. Toaster works quickly....Nice change as previous oven took Forever.Excellent toaster oven for the price.Makes good toast and heats pizzaPros: Pre-heating is fast Cooks food evenly Convection cooking is efficient and Quiet Extra space allows for cooking less in the regular oven Easy to cleanCons: The display has no light, very hard to see Hard to read the lettering (toast, bake, timer, etc). Had to buy a white paint marker that writes on metal to identify the tab functions. The display so far is the only real negative.I had roughly the same oven 10 years ago, excellent product.Decided to replace it, the new unit says on the specs 22.5 " wide,Its 19.5" wide ! Not sure how this could ever happen but the info is wrong. Hope this helps others decideIts a good oven. The new one has a better menu. Size exactly the same as the previous model. Would give more stars except for the incorrect width. They do offer an extra wide model that is 22.5 inches.I bought this to replace an earlier, smaller, less powerful, Black and Decker toaster oven that burned out after about 7 years use. I really like the electronic controls and built-in timer. I haven’t had it for long so to date I have used it to reheat leftovers, toast bread, and cook a frozen pizza. It’s perfect for reheating, but in the case of the bread and pizza the top browned more than the bottom. It.doesn’t toast bread as quickly as a conventional toaster, but I knew that in advance from the previous machine. You can toast 6 slices at a time versus 4 with the old one. My earlier unit couldn’t accommodate a 12” pizza, so that’s a plus with this one. There are four options for rack placement, so it may be a question of experimenting with that a bit to get even browning. Turning the toast over at the right moment is another option. I assume I will get the same long life with this unit as It’s predecessor. This is a well designed and made toaster oven, the second one for me. We bought the first one about 7 years ago on sale for $75. The new one was $150 in the beginning of January with next day delivery. Now a couple of weeks later it is advertised as $89 with a period of about two weeks delivery. I would have waited a bit longer for the delivery had I known the price difference! The other issue is that the dimensions shown on Amazon are wrong. Strangely the same wrong dimensions (22.8" wide, 13.4" tall, a15.5" deep) are shown on Black &Decker's website. The new toaster oven is the same size as my old one was: 19" wide, 10.5" tall and 13" deep! I worried a lot about size, how can the measurements be so different when it is the same model and it looks identical to my first one. Other buyers pointed out this discrepancy also! It should be corrected!Got this one to replace the previous model that I had for the last 14years. It served me well! I used it too cook everything all the time. Unlike some models that are deeper and not long enough, this one can accommodate even certain muffin pans (for 12, not 6) you just need to place them instead of the grill. Hopefully this one will last as long as well.Very strong smell when you first put it on… it took about 3 rounds on for 20 min on 450 for the smell to disappear, but now it’s all good.If there ever was a product waiting for a recall this one is it. When you actually try to use the toaster oven ( I tried using 2 of them the original item and the replacement sent by Amazon) it emits an acrid smell similiar what you get when you burn electrical wiring that does cause sore throats among other things if you actually happen to inhale it. Since I kinda like my shack, I threw it outside before it actually burns down my beloved shack . That said this product is a litigants dream, unfortunately prior health conditions preclude me from being able to foresee a favourable conclusion for this in Canada. However if you live in the States where iI hear the payouts are huge, go for it. Remember it isn't just Black and Decker that's liable, it's also expedient to go after the prostitutes at Intertek's ETL certification program who determined that this product is safe and certified it as such, and don't forget the retailer you got it from for selling a product that causes bodily harm. B & D used to make good products as my previous toaster oven lasted a good 15 years of abuse, now can they be trusted to last 1 day without causing bodily harm and grievious injuries.
