I own an Ooni pizza oven and while I love using it, I have always struggled to clean and maintain the pizza stone. I use semolina flour on my pizza peel to keep the dough from sticking. And while the semolina flour does a wonderful job of not allowing the dough to stick, some of it always ends up under the dough and on the hot pizza stone. The flour inevitably burns and needs to be cleaned off the stone to prevent it from leaving a burnt taste on the crust. There is also the problem of cheese or sauce running off the crust and unto the hot stone and leaving a charred mess. Since the manufacturer states NOT to clean your pizza stone with soap and water, removing the char from the stone has always been a problem for me.So I was very happy when I saw this pizza oven brush on Amazon and I had to try it. And I'm so glad I did. This is the perfect, the easiest and the safest way to clean my stone. The brush has 2 sides, one side is a thick metal blade and the other side is a very stiff brush with metal bristles. I wait for the stone to cool down after use and first, I use the flat metal blade to scrap off all of the remaining flour and any large pieces of burnt cheese or toppings. Then I use the metal brush side to remove and scrub off any charred spots remaining on the pizza stone. This gets my stone very clean and the whole process is quick and easy. I love that this brush is so stiff and does an excellent scrubbing job. And I also like that this brush is 10” wide and cleans such a wide area. There is also a hole on the wooden handle where you are able to screw on a short handle. But it is really not necessary, this brush works great without it. If you own a pizza oven, this brush is must have to maintain your pizza stone.
