Please read this section before using your cookware for the first time. The information it contains will help you achieve the best possible cooking results.Enameled cast iron is a remarkable and robust material that performs well with modern requirements for food preparation and cooking. Whether you choose to stir-fry, slow-cook a casserole, sear a steak or bake a cake, there is a shape that is suitable. Cast iron performs well for either slow cooking or high-temperature searing.Cast iron can be used reliably on any heat source, including induction, and with any oven or grill. It has the ability to retain heat efficiently, which allows for use of lower heat settings in stovetop and oven cooking. On the table, a hot covered dish will keep food hot for second servings.Cast iron can also be used to keep foods cold. A chilled dish becomes an ideal cold food server on a hot summer day. It can also be placed in the freezer for food storage or advanced food preparationHigh heat temperatures should only be used for boiling water for vegetables or pasta, or for reducing the consistency of stocks or sauces. High heats should never be used to preheat a pan before lowering the heat for cooking. Cast iron retains heat so efficiently that overheating will cause food to burn or stick. The vitreous enamel surface is impermeable and therefore ideal for raw or cooked food storage, and for marinating with acidic ingredients such as wine.

This Dutch Oven is worth the price. It helps make soups, stews and sauces so delucious. My sole concern is remembering that i need a pot holder to open lid as the handle heats up quickly.Love love love the Le Creuset Dutch ovens I have purchased from Amazon. This 3.5 quart size is perfect for boiling a batch of potatoes, steaming green beans, and making soups or stews for up to four people. The hombre'd Marseille blue enamel is so gorgeous. I feel like such a fortunate cook when I prepare healthy foods for myself and loved ones in Le Crueset...the ultimate in fine cookware. But, if you buy it, be sure to use silicone-coated whisks and spatulas rather than metal. Though the enamel is strong, all enamel will eventually scratch when scraped with metal.I have a bigger Le Creuset dutch oven that I love for making roasts and what not. But I needed something smaller for when I make risotto. This is the perfect size for that and some of the other dishes that I make that may cook on top of the stove or may also need to go into the oven. I hesitated about getting it due to the price but then remembered how my original has held up like new and that I will have this until I leave this earth (no, I'm not exaggerating, you take care of one of these dutch ovens and it will always be in great shape). I do recommend getting the cleaner they offer. Sometimes something might get stuck on the bottom because I turned around to see what just happened on the football game that they are yelling about and will forget to stir but that cleaner rescues me and gets that discolored spot right off.Another tip in case you've never had one of these before, if you ever cook anything and it looks like it might take a lot to get it off just put some warm water and a little dishsoap in it and let it soak just a little and it'll come right out.Lodge has a set of enamaled cookware for a fraction of the cost of Le Creuset, and it's probably just as good. But I'm French and I wanted to treat myself to something extra special. I've only used it twice so far, but it worked very well. I'm very pleased. What's not to love?i just love this beautiful dutch oven cooks and clean up is super easy! it now is my go to pot to cook daily meals on my induction cooktopLuv le creuset. Had wanted this size for years. Amazon had it " slightly used" for 1/2 price! I took a chance and am so pleased. Cooks beautiful .I could not love this pot more if it cooked by itself. I have had it a little over a month and use it for everything. It rarely leaves my stovetop and if it does it is back out in no time. Food does not stick, it cleans like a breeze, and makes me feel like a great chef even when making something simple, lol. It is elegant, hardy, and attractive. I hesitated for a while because it is more expensive than other cookware, but it's worth every penny. If you are considering it, I don't think you'll be sorry. I am already looking towards getting the 2 qt. for smaller dishes. I know I will use that every day too.Always great, flame is classic.Ok. I'm a single guy living on my own. I want to cook batches of meals and stick several portions in the freezer. This casserole pot is the business. I use it almost every weekend to cook up casseroles and curries. I usually eat one portion then stick 3-5 portions in the freezer. If I put carbs in the dish then I'll get about 4 meals of 650g. If I don't put much carbs in then I'll get about 5-6 meals of 400g each. Spoon the portions into 1l size microwaveable plastic containers, let them cool, use a sharpie to write on the lid, then put them in the freezer. There you go. Buy this, some scales, some plastic containers & a sharpie. Sorted.Beautiful product but expensive but the blue colour is gorgeous. However when you buy the best it would be.Did a casserole and it turned out lovely.Highly recommend and worth every penny.Excellent product, cooks stews & casseroles perfectly, lovely colour in kitchen. Lives up to expectations.Great colour. Great price during sales. Great valueAbsolutely a must have cookware in the kitchen.
