UPDATE: Here we are over 6 years since I originally bought this lid and I'm still loving it and it's big brother! I continue to use both constantly and they look absolutely like brand new. So much so that I could repackage them and mail them off to you and you would never guess they had been in virtually daily use for 6+ years. You would think you'd received brand new lids. Just amazing! BTW, if looking for stainless steel kitchen items, just go straight to this brand. They are often a bit more expensive, but this is a case of "you get what you pay for". I have NEVER been disappointed with this brand. There have been a few times when I told myself another would be fine for the lower price and I almost always end up needing to replace that item with this brand. Just save yourself the trouble and extra money spent on things that will just be discarded - start with the brand that's made to last.Love, love, love this lid! I'm back to purchase another for myself plus one in the larger size and a set for my daughter in both sizes.I purchased it over a year ago and it looks like I just took it out of the package. I use it daily - sometimes twice a day- and it cleans up beautifully in the dishwasher.The glass insert lets me see my food without having to lift the lid and the tiny vent is perfect. Let's just enough steam out to keep the lid in place but the lid still fits as snugly as lids that come with pans.The only downside to this lid is its flatness. There is no dome at all. This makes it store easily without taking too much room but also can mean taller items or things topped with cheese or sauce might be a bit problematic.Finally, yes the lid and its handle can get hot. This is glass and stainless steel so common sense tells you this will happen. For quick things, this isn't an issue but if you're leaving the lid in place for more than a few minutes, use a pot holder!
