First things first, I'm coming from a Weber iGrill2, which I found out was reading temps ALL wrong and resulting in overcooked everything in my smoker, not ok, also that ran on 4x AA batteries, not fun when you're smoking for 8-14 hrs at a time. That said, the USB rechargeable aspect of this was a very welcomed upgrade, kudos to inkbird for that. The temps I found to be spot on, again, kudos, just produced an amazing pork shoulder on its inaugural run. HOWEVER - bluetooth range on this is truly awful, from my smoker to my house is maybe 15 ft, maybe, stepped inside - disconnect, pleasant alarm to let me know. Reconnect, find spot in window where connection seems stable, leave phone there - sort of defeats the purpose, I can read the temp on the unit on the smoker from the window, ugh. Then, apparently as the pork was nearing completion, it disconnected again, with no alarm, my kid came in and told me the thing was beeping- went out, yep, temp reached, no alert on phone b/c the flimsy bluetooth connection. I'll keep it, because I used it, and it is accurate, but I'm shopping for a longer range alternative.I’ve been reveling in my dad’s smoked meat my entire life. Last year he gave me one of his smokers since he’s gotten to the point he can’t do it anymore. I decided to take up the task of smoking some brisket for his 75th birthday. I’ve smoked a few in the past but really wanted to step up my game.My research combined with this very handy and easy to use blue tooth thermometer allowed me to monitor the internal temperature of the meat and smoker in real time. The graphs of temperature changes for each probe are very helpful. It increased my stress and attention, more than the temp gauge on the lid of the smoker which didn’t fluctuate much, but the result was incredible. I’m so excited to smoke more now! We’ll see how it holds up, but it was well worth the price! My first review I wrote about my unit melting on the back and one of the magnets coming out. Was not happy. Since than I contacted the companies customers service and they were quick to replace the unit. There was no hassle with them and was done with email and I received the new unit in a few days. The thermometer worked great and I was very pleased with it before the problem and not I’m totally convinced I made the right choice to purchase this brand and model because of the outstanding customer service I received. Thank you InkBird!I'm using this precision instrument for every cooking event. I even use it to better track the accuracy of my oven's temperature. Glad I did, because the oven is way off and it shows now when I use the Inkbird to ensure I'm cooking and baking at the correct temperatures. The results are amazing. The app on my phone makes it a dream to keep track. If you're a cook, you gotta check this beauty out. What a great little thermometer! Easiest pairing of any device I’ve done. Pretty darn simple but more bells or whistles would make it worse; keep it simple.Unit can hold to the thin metal of the BBQ even though vertical. Has three pointed tip sensors for meat and one blocky unit for barbecue temperature. Is it perfect? By no means: While I love the rechargeable battery it also means I can’t swap batteries if it dies during cooking. you have a choice of four bells for “foods done” but it will not play any songs from your music list etc. unit is not fully waterproof but it’s not a hundred dollars either. Probe wire way-long so keep a twist tie handy if you have puppies that think strings need to be pulled. So I’ll be upfront, I should have read the temperature requirements a bit more closely. Mine melted. This device has magnets on it and I thought that you could put it on the side of a smoker. Big mistake. It melted. The device is made of plastic, as is the battery. Please pay attention to the temperature requirements before you make the same mistake I made!Love it. I used to cook tri tip only in the oven to control the temps and prevent a massive fire. Now I can throw it on a baking sheet+rack on the grill and fire it up on high. Game changer.I also use it to make sandwich roast beef in the oven. Cook at a low 200F until 130F inside, let cool down, put in fridge for a day, slice up on sandwich slicer, make French Dip (chefs kiss)Just buy it.After multiple cooks with food coming out with less than desired results, some overcooked some undercooked, I realized my probes were off by 20 degrees! This system was on sale during prime day and honestly even if it wasn’t I’d have no problem paying double for it! Comes with 4 probes, one I use with the included grill grate clip just to monitor grill temp. The others I tried on a brisket, was so nice to be able to set a temp range for the brisket, lower than 160 and high of 204. Once it hit 204 my phone started beeping like crazy til I silenced it. The nice part was being able to leave the probes in while I rested it in the cooler to ensure it never got close to the danger zone. Turned out flawless, best brisket I’ve ever made. Everyone that smokes knows it’s all about temp not time. Well in that case accuracy is key! This system did not disappoint. Easy clean up, easy set up on phone. 10/10 would recommend.Product was delivered ahead of schedule. Great job. Smart wireless Thermometer was easy to setup and use. App downloaded to my Android phone nicely. Thermometer paired within seconds to the app.. All good so far.. Right? Here is why the low rating.. What good is thermometer if the temperature is off.. I have a brand new very expensive Egg bbq. The reading between the BBQ gauge and the inkbird temperature was 25 degrees difference. I wasn't sure if it was the BBQ that was off or the inkbird. Set the meat thermometer in the chicken. Placed an instant thermometer in the chicken. 15 degrees F difference between the two. Now for certain I know the inkbird is giving the wrong temp.. WAY OFF. So, now I have a BBQ thermometer that I cannot trust at all.. Too bad.. I wanted this to work.It worked until i was on the otherside of the house from the smoker. Then it gives a warning your out of range. It gives real time temperature readings. Its is super easy to use and you can custom set alarms for temp or time independently to each probe so you could be cooking either different meats or meats of various start times from what I’m finding. Its a handy thing to have . You can go about the rest of your dishes without peeking and letting out heat.I used it on 2 small turkeys that were in separate oven roasters that needed different cooking times & it was so easy with this product. I was able to watch both temperatures at the same time & knew whether I needed to adjust the temperature of one or the other to make sure they were done at the same time. Reading was very accurate I.e. I used the 15 minutes per pound to determine how long it would take to cook the turkeys, and according to the temperature reading, they were done about 1 hour earlier than this. As this was my first time using, I wasn’t sure if the temperature was wrong, but the turkeys were perfect. Had I not used this product, the turkeys would have been overcooked. Easy to sync app with iPhone. Highly recommend. The Thermometer itself works perfectly, easy to use, convenient when you can track the temperature from your phone. The downside was the probes come with it. The probes did not last long. However, the after service was excellent. As soon as you contacted the customer service, they asked for photo and short video to demonstrate what went wrong with the device. After that, a bandnew Thermometer together with all 4 probes had been sent to me in the blink of an eye. Thank you very much and I would suggest this product to everyone.
