This is a wonderful casserole.I bought the 24 cm 4.2 L version in an Amazon promotion. It is 24 cm in diameter and the side are not too high, so you can easily get at items to move them around on the bottom when browningIt is just the right size for meals for a family of 4-5. I have also a larger casserole from another supplier and it is fine but it I find that using it, we have leftovers hanging around for days.This Bourgogne is from a longstanding Dutch company and it is now manufactured in Germany which I like.The casserole is a good size and heft, not actually heavy as I had expected (4.9Kg with lid I think), the cast iron sides are nicely thin, so it does not feel clunky, but it does feel really solid as if it it can withstand anything you cook in it.It was delivered fast and was sturdily packaged in a neat box.My version has a matt surface on the outside. I thought it might be harder to clean cooking stains off than the glossy ones but it isn't.I have cooked lots in it and it is absolute quality.It is easily the equivalent of the better known French brand for considerably less outlay.For clarity: I am not affiliated to the company in any way, not have I been paid for my comments , nor received a demo product to review. I'm just a very happy customer.I am amazed how much I’ve used this. It’s bigger than I had expected but not a problem as I’ve been making casseroles and winter soups that I freeze, in portions. It cleans well in that even caramelising onions for French Onion soup doesn’t mean I have to scrub it clean. Repeated use however does result in a staining build up to the interior that one can’t shift. But it still retains the easy clean surface. I’m think of buying a second smaller one.This is a fantatic quality dutch oven which is far more reasonably priced than its French competitor (of which I have a fair few.) I use this for baking, unlike cheaper imitations the internal glaze hasn't discoloured. If you're looking for one, I would personally (based on actually having a range of different types from different manufacturers) stick with the dutch ovenIt is a quality cast iron pot, made in Germany, and my husband was delighted with it since it was a birthday present. It compares with the Creuset witch unfortunately have become very expensive in the last few years....I'm not sure about the quality. I've had mine for 2 months now and it has been great for sourdough bread and Sunday lunches. But already I see that the ceramic lining now has a hundred hairline cracks. For the price, it is a bit disappointing.
