STAPLE OF TRADITIONAL COOKWARE: Whether you call it a skillet or a frying pan, the Noir option is perfect for you. No kitchen is complete without a reliable skillet for all your shallow cooking needs
TRADITIONAL COOKWARE, CONTEMPORARY DESIGN: Its stunning design offers a modern upgrade to your kitchen aesthetic while providing consistently reliable performance. The Handle is removable and can be replaced by one of 6 color options (color handles not included)
TITANIUM-BASED CERAMIC COATING: Comes with a Whitford Fusion Ti interior coating that is BPA, PFTE, and PFOA Free. Unlike other ceramic coatings, the Whitford Fusion Ti is reinforced with titanium particles for better durability and resistance to abrasion
ALL THE HEAT, HALF THE WEIGHT: Cast aluminum offers a lightweight alternative to cast iron with superior heat distribution for better cooking. It is also longer lasting and lower maintenance than several other cookware alternatives
STOVE TO OVEN TO DISHWASHER: Compatible with all domestic stoves, including induction. Remove the handles, and you can pop your Noir Skillet in the oven up to 550˚F or make clean up a snap by loading it into the dishwasher
The pan is durable, nothing sticks to it so it is very easy to clean. The detachable handle is removed by unscrewing the "tail" part of the handle which loosens a "gripper" at the front. I think the simple screw design ( unlike the trigger mechanism of others) is less likely to fail after prolonged use. But this means it takes a few seconds longer to loosen then just squeezing a lever. Since I would only put the handle on and off only for storage purposes, the simpler screw mechanism was good enough. The pan is heavier than aluminum ones, but needs to be because it needs to be for use with inductions stoves.Update After Receiving Replacement: The second set was worse than the first, as this time both pans had small defects. I uploaded 3 pictures of the second set. On the 12" of the replacement set, there was a sharp edge along the rim which you can easily feel if you run your finger across.Original Review: The bad first. The 10" Pan arrived with a small defect on its rim. At this expensive price, the pans should be absolutely perfect immediately out of the box. The Zavor company was very nice about it and communicated with me fast. I boxed up the pans and ordered a replacement via Amazon...and you gotta love Amazon for their service, of course. The good: The pans are very nice, and the fact they offer removable handles which makes the pans not take up as much room in your cabinet as other pans, is really a welcome and useful feature. The handles are soft to the touch. The pans feel like the perfect weight...not too heavy. This set of fry pans comes with two skillets—10” and 12”. These two skillets or fry pans, whichever you wish to call them, are from Zavor and are part of Zavor’s Noir Collection—they are indeed jet black. The three most user-friendly features about these frypans are that they are 1) extremely light weight; 2) extremely easy to clean; and 3) have a removable handle. The black color is very distinctive and most unusual as a color for a fry pan. But Zavor’s Noir Collection is totally black. All items in the Zavor collection are all black as well. These fry pans are also extremely light weight. It is very surprising when first picking up either of the two skillets but especially the 12” model, that it is so very light weight. Compared to a cast iron skillet, it is almost as light as a feather. But don’t let the weight fool you. It’s as heavy duty as any cast iron skillet is to be sure. More on this point later in this review.Because of its non-stick titanium-based ceramic coating, it is very easy to clean. Whether you choose to hand wash them in the sink with a specifically made cleaning tool made of silicone or you opt for the dishwasher (it is generally not recommended by third parties that one not put non-stick fry pans in the dishwasher), it is very easy to clean. A little bit of soap and warm water does the job as easily as the dishwasher without any harsh dishwasher soap and extremely heated water made so by the dishwasher. The light weight can also fool the user into thinking that it is not oven safe. However, this is not true as it can withstand oven temperatures up to 500°F. Many other non-stick coated ovenware can only withstand oven temperatures up to 450°F. As you can see, this is a 50° difference in favor of Zavor’s titanium-based ceramic non-stick coating. It is thought that ceramic non-stick coatings are the best and longest-lasting non-stick coatings available today. And the titanium-based ceramic coating is, by many, thought to be the best of the best ceramic coatings. The other feature of these pans is the removable handle. When you get these skillets, the handles come detached. Putting them on is very simple and is clearly described in the user manual that comes with the purchase. Once attached, tightening the handles is accomplished by turning the tip of the handle clockwise until it stops. For oven baking, you would do just the opposite to remove the handle. The ceramic coating is the ‘Whitford Fusion Ti interior coating that is BPA, PFTE, and PFOA Free. Unlike other ceramic coatings, the Whitford Fusion Ti is reinforced with titanium particles for better durability and resistance to abrasion.’For the price charged, these two skillets are a literal steal. They are an actual dream to use, a dream to clean and a not a drain on your pocketbook.HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDI've been cooking for over 30 years and this is, so far, my very favorite nonstick cookware. It is hard to put into words how much I love these skillets. They outperform even the high-end expensive cookware I've used in the past. They are absolutely nonstick, so much so that you don't even really need to use oil. There is no toxic coating which is really important to me. They are lightweight and the heat is evenly distributed. I love that I can easily (in about three seconds with no tools) remove the handles so they can go into my small (June) oven and the dishwasher. My daughter, whose chore it is to clean the kitchen every night, loves that she basically spends no effort cleaning these skillets. Everything wipes right out. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has stuck. The skillets also look beautiful.I have two small cautions at this point. One is that when I am frying in a small amount of oil, I can see that it pools toward the outside of the skillet which suggests that it is not designed to be completely flat across the bottom. I noticed this when frying gyoza. One other caution is that I have been using these, though pretty much daily, for only two months. Since that time, there has been no degradation of the pans in any way — they still look brand-new — but we will see how they hold up. I will update this review if needed.
